<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
24 hours from now we will be seeing Eli's ortho for the first time. We will finally get some information, to know how bad his hips are and what treatment will be like. Ever time I think about it, my stomach does flip flops. I'm thankful for this past week, to have the time to try and get mentally prepared. But at the same time, I wish we could have already started treatment. I can now think about the harness and not immediately break down into tears. I can even talk about it from a minute with daddy before I get teary. I know he will be ok and this will be harder on me then him, but it doesn't make it any easier. I know I'm not alone in the way I feel. I have spent the last week doing tons of research, reading blogs and have joined two Facebook pages about hip dysplasia. Everyone stories that I have read, they go thru the same feelings that I do. It makes me feel less alone. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Today we took the kids to OMSI. Mostly to let them have fun, because I have a feeling it will be a week or so before I'm comfortable going out in public. I also wanted to go and have a "normal" day out, without the stares and questions that I'm sure will come once he gets the harness on. Silly I know to feel that way.. But I do. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm going to give Eli another bath tonight (which he loves!) and enjoy the floppy snuggles. I'm going to enjoy his tiny little feet and legs and give them lots of kisses. I going to enjoy being able to breast feed him with his body up against mine. And tonight I'm going to cherish one last night of him sleeping on his side, snuggled up to me nursing. Oh damn, here come the tears again. </div>
<div>

June 26th 2015- 20 days old</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
Monday....<br />
<div>
Today is Friday. I just want to know something, anything! I don't know what his numbers are, if will have to have a Pavlik harness, if our car seat works, if he's allowed to use the swing we have, nothing. I don't even know if I'm going to be allowed to bath him!<br />
<div>
I have been waiting seven days to find out any information, two more to go. It's relieving and terrifying at the same time. I want to know what's going on, and what our plan of action is, but I'm so scared. Family members keep asking me how I'm going to feel next week and all of these questions and I don't know anything. They ask me what I need for him, how long he going to have to wear it, but I don't know. I don't know if we're going to be in a pavlik harness or what. I'm so sick of not knowing, of the questions. I have a million and one question and no answers. </div>
<div>
Everyone keeps saying it will be ok, that he will be fine, he won't remember, that it could be worse... Well damn it none of that make me feel good. It doesn't make me feel better.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>

June 19th 2015 - 13 days old</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
Dornbechers called just a bit ago and I pulled myself together long enough to talk to them. I have been holed up snuggling with Eli in our room all day. Thank goodness hubby is home to deal with the older kids, so I can lay here in the dark and just cry. I feel so alone.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Today is Friday June 19th and we can't get into the docs before Monday the 29th. 10 days. 10 days of waiting, wondering and worrying. Is this waiting going to make his hips worse? How do I hold him? What should I NOT be doing? Why can't we be seen sooner? </div>
<div>
Thank goodness I get 10 days to snuggle with my baby before the harness goes on. To be able to lay in bed and breast feed. To take him in public and just be normal. I don't know if I'm happy about that, or sad, or frustrated. It's going to be a long week, that goes by too quickly. </div>

June 19th 2015 - 13 days old</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
Well it's official. After receiving a call from my midwife, Eli's images from the ultrasound show that he has hip dysplasia. We don't know how bad tho. She said he will probably have to wear the pavlik harness for 4-8 weeks, but we don't know. She sent a referral into Dornbechers children's hospital to have Eli be seen by a specialist. Now we wait again for the call from them...<br />
<div>
I could barely get through my conversation with her before breaking down into tears. One Google image search of the pavlik harness made the tears come hard and fast. Now they won't stop. </div>
<br />

June 18th 2015 - 12 days old</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
So many phone calls. I feel like I'm always on the phone with one doctors office or another.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
we had Eli's first ultrasound on his hips today. He cooperated and hopefully the tech got some good images. They were only going to scan the left hip but I asked and asked them to do the right too since we were there. They said since the order only said "hip" and not "hips", they could only do one, which I think is stupid. Luckily the guy who looks at the ultrasound asked them to do both, so we got both done. Now we wait. We wait for the images and report to be sent back to my midwife and we will see what happens next. Feeing anxious for her call. </div>

<div>
At my latest midwife appointment, my doc felt a "click" in Eli's left hip, after checking at birth and being told his hips are fine. So she is ordering an ultrasound on his hip to see what's going on. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm trying not to freak out, to worry.... But it's not working. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>

On the up side, Eli is up to 7lbs 11.5oz! </div>

<br />
I found this super duper cute purse <a href="http://sewmamasew.com/blog2/2010/09/free-amy-butler-pattern-blossom-handbagshoulder-bag/" target="_blank">tutorial</a> on Pintrest a while ago and have been wanting to make it. I finally had some time and a few (6) Joann's coupons, so in to crafting mode I went. It took me 3 days to make my purse and about 5 hours to make my daughter matching one. And that is working almost non stop... I didn't cook dinner for two days, no laundry, hardly any dishes or cleaning and went to bed really late :-D My family survived. Lets just say I get a little obsessed with new projects! <br />
<br />
I did not take any pictures while I was making these and I am now KICKING my self for it! BUT, if I make another one, I will be sure to take pictures, LOTS OF PICTURES! I was so in to making it, (craft mode) that I honestly didn't want to take the time to take pictures, get good lighting, edit them, "pose" my stuff... just too much work. With the pattern I followed, there were very few pictures. If I have something to look at in addition to reading how to do it, it make so much more sense to me and is easier.<br />
<br />
I followed the <a href="http://sewmamasew.com/blog2/2010/09/free-amy-butler-pattern-blossom-handbagshoulder-bag/" target="_blank">pattern</a> for my purse exactly ( to the best of my ability) and for my daughters I followed, for the most part, <a href="http://patchyapple.wordpress.com/2009/11/20/easy-mini-ruffled-purse-tutorial/" target="_blank">this tutorial</a>. With hers I did make a few changes.<br />
<br />
<br />
So here are some pictures of my new purse that I am IN LOVE with and my daughters matching one! The fabric is WAY WAY WAY outside my box, but I wanted something hip, and fun and bright! I normally wear a lot of blues, purples, blacks and greys, so this was definitely a change for me.<br />

We had a beautiful week here last week. Sunshine and weather in the mid 60's and low 70's, which for my part of Oregon is AWESOME this time of year! Well this week we are back to rain...rain... and more rain. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This evening after dinner my adorable daughter yelled,</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b> "LOOK MOMMY! PUDDLES!! Can I go out and jump in them!?!?!" </b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I told her go for it! So here and daddy threw on coats and shoes over pajamas, and went and jumped in puddles for almost an hour. It was so cute to watch them playing together. Here are some pictures of their fun!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
(NOTE: These pictures are unedited. I just had a few moments to to do a quick post!) </div>

<span style="font-size: large;">I have A LOT of keys! </span> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-F3N6d0r9hQE/USVT6spDV5I/AAAAAAAA6O4/s0hIjJB3Qww/s1600/DSC09904.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-F3N6d0r9hQE/USVT6spDV5I/AAAAAAAA6O4/s0hIjJB3Qww/s400/DSC09904.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: EASY DIY Lanyard for Keys" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm not even sure where 75% of them come from! On a
daily basis I only use two - my car key and my house key. So I figured
it was time to made a small lanyard for just my car and house keys. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u><span style="font-size: large;">So
here it is!</span></u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-svaUWsrun5g/USVT-OM2N0I/AAAAAAAA6PA/mfoXZNUgJiA/s1600/use+for+landyard-002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="382" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-svaUWsrun5g/USVT-OM2N0I/AAAAAAAA6PA/mfoXZNUgJiA/s640/use+for+landyard-002.jpg" title="Map of My Heart: EASY DIY Lanyard for Keys" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
For this project I just dug through my scraps and found two fabrics that I liked. This is a great quick and easy scrap buster!<br />
<br />
Supplies<br />
<ul>
<li>Scraps</li>
<li>Iron on Pellon/interfacing</li>
<li>Iron</li>
<li>Key Ring</li>
<li>Basic Sewing Stuff (machine, scissors etc...) </li>
<li>Cording or Bias Tape or Shoe Lace </li>
</ul>
<br />
My scraps measured (about)<br />
14in x 2.5in for the main piece.<br />
<br />
And the small pink piece was about 5.5in x 2.5in.<br />
<br />
But just use what every you have! I didn't want mine too long, so this was perfect. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3GIviI8tG-A/USVVOjDf8ZI/AAAAAAAA6PM/pvqP42jVIsw/s1600/DSC09854.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3GIviI8tG-A/USVVOjDf8ZI/AAAAAAAA6PM/pvqP42jVIsw/s400/DSC09854.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: EASY DIY Lanyard for Keys" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I started by ironing on pellon to my main piece. I have no idea what kind it is - it was some hand-me-down. But it has little bumps on one side (glue) and is smooth on the other. I trimmed the extra off. (it was a piece of scrap I had from another project)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3VhXjlEwqRs/USVVPlkv_xI/AAAAAAAA6Pc/_f9Mwctjf2s/s1600/DSC09860.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3VhXjlEwqRs/USVVPlkv_xI/AAAAAAAA6Pc/_f9Mwctjf2s/s400/DSC09860.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: EASY DIY Lanyard for Keys" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I ironed it in half with right sides together. I did this so I wouldn't have to use pins when I took it to the sewing machine.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cw6WbobbTpk/USVVQLVJesI/AAAAAAAA6Pk/ou-UGhm9T9A/s1600/DSC09863.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cw6WbobbTpk/USVVQLVJesI/AAAAAAAA6Pk/ou-UGhm9T9A/s400/DSC09863.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: EASY DIY Lanyard for Keys" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
My smaller piece I also ironed in half with wrong sides together and then opened it. I folded in the sides towards the middle and pressed.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-k478exhjzvM/USVVUJQs9SI/AAAAAAAA6Q0/sA6dSxh8PXY/s1600/DSC09886.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-k478exhjzvM/USVVUJQs9SI/AAAAAAAA6Q0/sA6dSxh8PXY/s400/DSC09886.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: EASY DIY Lanyard for Keys" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
So it looked like this...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-00WbMSAf7-I/USVVTsLW6qI/AAAAAAAA6Qs/PYsFO8DSPUA/s1600/DSC09885.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-00WbMSAf7-I/USVVTsLW6qI/AAAAAAAA6Qs/PYsFO8DSPUA/s400/DSC09885.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: EASY DIY Lanyard for Keys" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I hate trying to turn narrow projects (so do my fingers) so I use this tip!<br />
<br />
Next I went over to the sewing machine. I put a shoe lace up against the fold on the inside with a tail sticking out like in the picture.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-roG00wY7Ih4/USVVQ1SpSqI/AAAAAAAA6P4/u4jqW6c8RZ0/s1600/DSC09868.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-roG00wY7Ih4/USVVQ1SpSqI/AAAAAAAA6P4/u4jqW6c8RZ0/s400/DSC09868.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: EASY DIY Lanyard for Keys" width="400" /></a></div>
I then sewed the top close making sure the shoe lace was secure! Don't worry, the shoe lace is just there to help up turn this right side out. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OPFzbZfDMec/USVVQ8XZJCI/AAAAAAAA6P0/mKQlMfs6los/s1600/DSC09869.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OPFzbZfDMec/USVVQ8XZJCI/AAAAAAAA6P0/mKQlMfs6los/s400/DSC09869.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: EASY DIY Lanyard for Keys" width="400" /></a></div>
Make sure as you sew your seam, you don't catch any of the shoe lace. I like to use the shoe lace because it is thick and I can feel it while I'm sewing. But you could use ribbon, bias tape, or anything similar.<br />
<br />
<br />
When I got to the end I just folded up the ends like so. That way this end had a nice hem.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-F7a-zoxukrA/USVVSNzQGNI/AAAAAAAA6QM/Etorwf_XBts/s1600/DSC09871.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-F7a-zoxukrA/USVVSNzQGNI/AAAAAAAA6QM/Etorwf_XBts/s400/DSC09871.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: EASY DIY Lanyard for Keys" width="400" /></a></div>
<b>Done!</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rOudcg6G2DU/USVVSWJTpjI/AAAAAAAA6QU/WyVhxJ0mWj8/s1600/DSC09877.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rOudcg6G2DU/USVVSWJTpjI/AAAAAAAA6QU/WyVhxJ0mWj8/s400/DSC09877.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: EASY DIY Lanyard for Keys" width="400" /></a></div>
The next part is the easy! Just pull! Once you get it started it goes really smooth! Best trick I have ever learned!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FYbdRviXxCw/USVVSyQgDGI/AAAAAAAA6Qc/yVFYKrpvDRw/s1600/DSC09883.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FYbdRviXxCw/USVVSyQgDGI/AAAAAAAA6Qc/yVFYKrpvDRw/s400/DSC09883.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: EASY DIY Lanyard for Keys" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> Keep pulling!</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Bb9w6FEA-Xs/USVVSbhuVWI/AAAAAAAA6QQ/nbchKveO9jI/s1600/DSC09880.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Bb9w6FEA-Xs/USVVSbhuVWI/AAAAAAAA6QQ/nbchKveO9jI/s400/DSC09880.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: EASY DIY Lanyard for Keys" width="400" /></a></div>
Once you have it turned completely you can either trim off the end or use a seam ripper to undo your stitches. I LOVE this trick! Don't forget to remove the shoe lace!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NSLvEvuXeEw/USVVTRotYXI/AAAAAAAA6Qg/-N0Xp_VRtNg/s1600/DSC09884.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NSLvEvuXeEw/USVVTRotYXI/AAAAAAAA6Qg/-N0Xp_VRtNg/s400/DSC09884.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: EASY DIY Lanyard for Keys" width="400" /></a></div>
I then ironed it out all nice and pretty and slipped on my key ring. I kept my key attached so you could see the ring. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6nH19SfA8yE/USVVaAOUZ7I/AAAAAAAA6RA/EGrHE7JXU9k/s1600/DSC09891.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6nH19SfA8yE/USVVaAOUZ7I/AAAAAAAA6RA/EGrHE7JXU9k/s400/DSC09891.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: EASY DIY Lanyard for Keys" width="400" /></a></div>
Take your two ends and put the <b><u>non-hemmed</u></b> end into the other end (hemmed). It might take some wiggling but it is do-able! I put it in at least 1/2in. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Nvxi5K8vun4/USVVabDADJI/AAAAAAAA6RE/zjcD2LDsKQo/s1600/DSC09893.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Nvxi5K8vun4/USVVabDADJI/AAAAAAAA6RE/zjcD2LDsKQo/s400/DSC09893.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: EASY DIY Lanyard for Keys" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Slid your key ring down towards your ends. Put your ring about an inch or two below the ends. Like so...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OyQHZ6e9-ew/USVVagYPv7I/AAAAAAAA6RM/7gNhuRfrwGY/s1600/DSC09894.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OyQHZ6e9-ew/USVVagYPv7I/AAAAAAAA6RM/7gNhuRfrwGY/s400/DSC09894.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: EASY DIY Lanyard for Keys" width="400" /></a></div>
Take the whole thing over to the sewing machine and sew a square to secure your ends so they don't come undone. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-h-9twJkqOmA/USVVbnCC6zI/AAAAAAAA6Rc/5enq8KaKJsc/s1600/DSC09900.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-h-9twJkqOmA/USVVbnCC6zI/AAAAAAAA6Rc/5enq8KaKJsc/s400/DSC09900.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: EASY DIY Lanyard for Keys" width="400" /></a></div>
See - easy! It doesn't have to look pretty because your going to cover it. I tested it by pulling and it stayed strong.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-l1Pdamp-AXc/USVVbzerqpI/AAAAAAAA6Rg/kVYhqdoQMQ0/s1600/DSC09902.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-l1Pdamp-AXc/USVVbzerqpI/AAAAAAAA6Rg/kVYhqdoQMQ0/s400/DSC09902.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: EASY DIY Lanyard for Keys" width="400" /></a></div>
I took my smaller scrap and wrapped it around where I just sewed. A quick trip to the sewing machine to sew it down and <b><u>BAM </u></b>I was done!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-113D3vIBfN8/USVVbZBqw0I/AAAAAAAA6RY/Cql7FhPTRtk/s1600/DSC09898.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-113D3vIBfN8/USVVbZBqw0I/AAAAAAAA6RY/Cql7FhPTRtk/s400/DSC09898.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: EASY DIY Lanyard for Keys" width="400" /></a></div>
Make sure you fold over and un-hemmed ends.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_bjOqjzm5U8/USVVch8HAhI/AAAAAAAA6Rw/kTtqKVsHkd8/s1600/DSC09910.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_bjOqjzm5U8/USVVch8HAhI/AAAAAAAA6Rw/kTtqKVsHkd8/s400/DSC09910.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: EASY DIY Lanyard for Keys" width="400" /></a></div>
See! A nice new and pretty lanyard for my keys! I love it! The rest of my keys will probably just stay in my purse so I don't loose them.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u><b><span style="font-size: large;">Thanks for stopping by!</span></b></u></div>
<br />
Have you made a lanyard for your keys? Or maybe for a thumb drive? (I might make one of those next!) I would love to see some of you pictures! Leave me a link and I'll stop by!Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16629656098130520711noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1708089960401391527.post-79005938776739237072013-02-11T21:35:00.004-08:002013-02-11T21:35:45.852-08:00Gotta take a break!<span style="font-size: large;">Hello my <span style="font-size: large;">imaginary</span> followers!</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">I need to take a small break from blogging. I WILL be back I promise! I won't be adding very many new post between now and mid March :-( I am consigning and volunteering at the <b><a href="http://www.passitonsales.com/index.html" target="_blank">Hillsboro Pass It On Sale</a></b>! I'm excited to be volunteering again. If you don't know what it is go check out the website! </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">So what is the Pass It On Sale? It is an awesome children's consignment sale where you can find ONLY good quality, second hand items at steeply discounted prices! I'm SERIOUS! Regular joes - like me - tag and sell items and can get 65% - 80% back on their sales. If you volunteer, you get more of your money. Plus with volunteering, you get into the presale!!! Which is the BEST! ( you get to buy things be for the general public!)</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">So, for the next few weeks I will be busy rounding up toys, clothes, baby gear and household stuff to sell. I then have to enter each item into the system, print the label and attach it to the correct item. Its a lot of work and I have even started yet! LOL </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">BUT! I will be back! I love blogging, even though no ones here to read it lol. Thanks for stopping by!</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><i>Kate</i></span>Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16629656098130520711noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1708089960401391527.post-89381322562784262932013-02-04T20:50:00.000-08:002013-02-05T20:51:46.810-08:00Money Saving Tip #4<!--[if gte mso 9]><xml>

<div align="center" style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b><u>Cut Back On Paper <span style="font-size: large;">Products</span>!</u></b></span><b><u></u></b></span></div>
<div align="center" style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">This is a simple tip, but one we often
overlook in favor of convenience. I have been trying to cut back on <u>paper
products </u>which isn't too hard. We don't use very many paper products.
But you can only cut back on toilet paper so much before people start to
complaing LOL. I know paper products are convenient, but <u>YOU DON'T NEED
THEM!</u></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">I ran out of <u>paper plates</u> a while
ago and haven't had any money to buy more, and WE HAVE SURVIVED! Same goes with
<u>paper towels</u>. I did buy some cheap ones but hate them! I use them for cleaning
only now. If you do use paper towles ( no judgment...) try putting them in a
cupboard where you can't see them and you will use less!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Quit buying <u>paper napkins</u> and use linen
ones instead. I bought myself enough fabric to make 2 dozen napkins for less
then $8!!! ( I had a coupon) Thats pretty darn cheap! Those napkins will last
me a LONG time! (Tutorial to come!) </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Crayola makes this great finger painting paper that we love to use, but it is spendy. Once I run out, I think I'm going to go back to doing <u>painting on paper bags.</u> I shop at Winco and their paper bags are not the best (or maybe its my lack of bagging skills) and I cant reuse them for shopping. So I just cut them apart and Sister Bear paints on them. Works great!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">If I make a mistake when I print something from the computer, I save my paper until I have a good stack. Then I cut the paper into note size pieces and staple them together and <span style="color: #990000;">bada bing bada boom</span> I have a note pad!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Another option is using<u> decorated paper bags or newspape</u>r and use it for wrapping presents. Grandparents really like this one.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">I never buy<u> envelopes</u>! I still receive paper bills, but I pay everything online. When ever I receive a bill, I save the envelopes and reuse them. Thoes pesky credit card offers will also come with an envelope too, cause they are really hoping you will sign up. I save thoes too!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">So these are a few of the ways that I save on paper products! If you have anything to add to the list let me know! </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Thanks for stopping by! See you next week! </span><span style="font-family: inherit;">

Well I decided to combine them and make Sister Bear couple easy peezy felt pop tarts to go with her kitchen. <u>I whipped these out in about 30 minutes!</u> I love quick and easy projects!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DUuoKGdjNGo/UQwlrI2euBI/AAAAAAAA3Fc/Zl70ZuWhBD4/s1600/poptarts+blog.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="377" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DUuoKGdjNGo/UQwlrI2euBI/AAAAAAAA3Fc/Zl70ZuWhBD4/s640/poptarts+blog.jpg" title="Map of My Heart: Felt Poptarts" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
So heres how I did it..<br />
<br />
<b><u>Supplies</u></b>:<br />
<ul>
<li>Felt - colors of your choice</li>
<li>Thread</li>
<li>Sewing machine</li>
<li>Pinking shears</li>
<li>Scissors or rotary cutter</li>
<li>Ruler</li>
</ul>
You could easily go over board and get real elaborate with theses, but I wanted to keep them simple. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QjninJfLuKw/UQwmAect5BI/AAAAAAAA3Fk/9ums_eiaL7M/s1600/use.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QjninJfLuKw/UQwmAect5BI/AAAAAAAA3Fk/9ums_eiaL7M/s400/use.jpg" title="Map of My Heart: Felt Poptarts" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
First I cut out 4 rectangles that were 4 x 3 inches.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-99gAfkCAjPo/UQwmAWs-w0I/AAAAAAAA3Fo/Ct2SH6E8PfQ/s1600/use2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="261" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-99gAfkCAjPo/UQwmAWs-w0I/AAAAAAAA3Fo/Ct2SH6E8PfQ/s400/use2.jpg" title="Map of My Heart: Felt Poptarts" width="400" /></a></div>
Next I went around all the sides with my hand-me-down pinking shears to give it the pop tart look.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kHu0fp3_aDk/UQwmAs6lypI/AAAAAAAA3Fw/Igum1rJqF-k/s1600/use3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="296" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kHu0fp3_aDk/UQwmAs6lypI/AAAAAAAA3Fw/Igum1rJqF-k/s400/use3.jpg" title="Map of My Heart: Felt Poptarts" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Ta Da!</span> This takes about 2 minutes!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eGT-cabvI_c/UQwmBh0Nm0I/AAAAAAAA3GA/8KL7dfuZ09A/s1600/use4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eGT-cabvI_c/UQwmBh0Nm0I/AAAAAAAA3GA/8KL7dfuZ09A/s400/use4.jpg" title="Map of My Heart: Felt Poptarts" width="400" /></a></div>
Next I just free handed the "frosting". I cut out two and laid them onto my poptart tops. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UCuHyn8Hvqs/UQwnHgQYGuI/AAAAAAAA3Gs/qUrdebn7yC8/s1600/DSC08869.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UCuHyn8Hvqs/UQwnHgQYGuI/AAAAAAAA3Gs/qUrdebn7yC8/s400/DSC08869.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: Felt Poptarts" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
The next step I found the most time consuming :-/ I made sprinkles out
of french knots. I had to do 2 knots for each sprinkle because they weren't showing up well.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-623yuOI_Q1o/UQwnHkQomHI/AAAAAAAA3Gw/CUnTRnMUsQo/s1600/DSC08872.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-623yuOI_Q1o/UQwnHkQomHI/AAAAAAAA3Gw/CUnTRnMUsQo/s400/DSC08872.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: Felt Poptarts" width="400" /></a></div>
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--AyZj47p7Vw/UQwmCG4m-rI/AAAAAAAA3GM/LEvD_TH14nY/s1600/use6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--AyZj47p7Vw/UQwmCG4m-rI/AAAAAAAA3GM/LEvD_TH14nY/s400/use6.jpg" title="Map of My Heart: Felt Poptarts" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
I have the red and white done! <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Oh look! The blue is done! I totally wasn't planning on red, white and blue themed, but they turned out cute!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IIdyeFsDWso/UQwmCya_1eI/AAAAAAAA3GQ/LgsGR8lj9K0/s1600/use8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IIdyeFsDWso/UQwmCya_1eI/AAAAAAAA3GQ/LgsGR8lj9K0/s400/use8.jpg" title="Map of My Heart: Felt Poptarts" width="400" /></a></div>
The next step, super easy! Take your poptart top and your poptart bottom and sew them together! If you have good pinking shears, you could wait to cut the outside until this step. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8gi11TWMqRI/UQwmCuuksqI/AAAAAAAA3GU/sWXUqqHPm0E/s1600/use7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8gi11TWMqRI/UQwmCuuksqI/AAAAAAAA3GU/sWXUqqHPm0E/s400/use7.jpg" title="Map of My Heart: Felt Poptarts" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"> Ta Da!</span> Cute felt poptarts! Super easy and totally free!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-A_DLSTD3hnE/UQwmDR7N-qI/AAAAAAAA3Gg/0ddLcCo8hFA/s1600/use9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-A_DLSTD3hnE/UQwmDR7N-qI/AAAAAAAA3Gg/0ddLcCo8hFA/s400/use9.jpg" title="Map of My Heart: Felt Poptarts" width="400" /></a></div>
I think I'm going to make more here soon. I see <span style="color: #e06666;"><span style="color: #cc0000;">strawberry</span> </span>flavor in our future!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I hope you enjoyed our pop tarts! Have you made felt pop tarts or were you inspired by mine? I would LOVE to hear about it! Thanks for stopping by!Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16629656098130520711noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1708089960401391527.post-32963958343421408972013-01-30T22:39:00.000-08:002013-01-30T22:39:17.040-08:00Shaving Cream Heart GarlandWell, I have to say I am addicted to <u>Pintrest</u>! <i>( I'm pretty sure I have mentioned that before)</i> I think most crafters are. This project was another one I found while on Pintrest and knew we had to try it out. We had a lot of fun doing this and clean up was a breeze!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sjAyMR_AGmU/UQn10Ei88dI/AAAAAAAA3B8/Ze9MW9F5DKg/s1600/VALENTINES+FOR+BLOG.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="442" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sjAyMR_AGmU/UQn10Ei88dI/AAAAAAAA3B8/Ze9MW9F5DKg/s640/VALENTINES+FOR+BLOG.jpg" title="Map of My Heart: Shaving Cream Heat Garland" width="640" /></a></div>
First we had to gather up supplies. I always try and do this when Sister Bear isn't looking, or else I get a<br />
million and one questions as to what I am doing. <i>(this gets rather annoying, because I answer the same question a million times!)</i><br />
<br />
<b><u>Supplies:</u></b><br />
<ul>
<li>Shaving Cream</li>
<li>Washable Paints</li>
<li>Small Cups</li>
<li>Card stock cut into hearts </li>
<li>Cookie Sheet </li>
<li>An old credit card or something similar</li>
</ul>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EDXiVtzUJec/UQnPtYyqA-I/AAAAAAAA294/Bz17GrtJIGA/s1600/DSC08716.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EDXiVtzUJec/UQnPtYyqA-I/AAAAAAAA294/Bz17GrtJIGA/s400/DSC08716.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: Shaving Cream Heat Garland" width="400" /></a></div>
Next, I put some shaving cream ($1 at Albertsons)on to a cookie sheet ($1 at Dollar tree). I used the one from sister bears kitchen. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rJvYHFA-N6Y/UQnPtRKSrWI/AAAAAAAA298/Y9tJj3-dVes/s1600/DSC08717.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rJvYHFA-N6Y/UQnPtRKSrWI/AAAAAAAA298/Y9tJj3-dVes/s400/DSC08717.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: Shaving Cream Heat Garland" width="400" /></a></div>
I added a little bit of water to some washable paints we had, and mixed it up in small cups. Then Sister bear helped me pour it on to the shaving cream. If you water down the paint too much it doesn't work as well. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0VjE2LDJlgs/UQnPtQXXCXI/AAAAAAAA2-A/FVUMRh7QTsM/s1600/DSC08722.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0VjE2LDJlgs/UQnPtQXXCXI/AAAAAAAA2-A/FVUMRh7QTsM/s400/DSC08722.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: Shaving Cream Heat Garland" width="400" /></a></div>
I told Sister Bear to swirl the colors up with her finger. At first she didn't want to get her fingers messy and asked for a spoon. But I told her it would only work with her finger :-) Once she started she had a good time!<br />

Next came the fun part. Sister Bear being 2.5 wanted to do it herself. So I let her, and she did pretty good! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

All you do is lay the paper hearts onto the shaving cream and press gently. Make sure the shaving cream gets all over the heart, and then set it aside.<br />

Lately I haven't had much (good) luck with new recipes :(<br />
But! This one actually came out good! I followed the recipe exactly except I added some leftover frozen ham from Christmas. I got this recipe from an eBook I got for free. Most of her recipes sound mouth watering and I will be trying more. The book is no longer free, but is only $2.99. Click <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Quick-Cooker-Recipes-chefs-ebook/dp/B00AOGNTAI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1359408593&sr=8-1&keywords=quick+and+easy+slow+cooker+recipes" target="_blank">HERE</a> to check it out!<br />
<br />
<br />
I made her Potato, Cheddar and Chive soup and it was a hit! Nice and creamy with really good flavor. The best part? I had enough leftover to freeze and add to my freezer stock! I forgot to take pretty pictures, but I did snap one while it was still in the crock pot. <br />

<i>Sorry for the not so great picture!!! </i><br />
Here is the recipe! <br />
Makes 6 Servings<br />
<br />
<u><b>Ingredients:</b></u><br />
<ul>
<li>4 Large potatoes, peeled and sliced</li>
<li>4 Cups chicken stock</li>
<li>1 Large clove of garlic, minced</li>
<li>1 Cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese</li>
<li>1 Cup smoked Gouda cheese</li>
<li>1/4 Cup chopped fresh chives</li>
<li>1/2 Cup sour cream </li>
<li>Salt and pepper to taste</li>
<li>1 Cup heavy cream</li>
<li>1/4 Cup crumbled sharp cheddar cheese for the garnish</li>
<li><i>I added 2 cups diced ham </i></li>
</ul>
<b><u>Directions:</u></b><br />
Place potatoes and 1 cup of the chicken stock in the slow cooker, cover and cook on high for 2 hours. (do the fork test- potatoes should be just barley tender) Spoon out 2/3 of the potatoes and blend them in your blender or food processor with a little of the cooking liquid. add garlic and blend with the potatoes. Return the puree to the slow cooker.<br />
Stir in shredded cheeses, remaining chicken stock, sour cream ( I added diced ham) and chives (save a little for the garnish). Cover and cook on low for 30 minutes. When its done break up the rest of the potatoes with a fork to get your desired consistency. Stir in heavy cream before serving and add salt and pepper to taste!<br />
ENJOY!<br />
<br />
I can't wait to try a few more of her recipes! I recommend you try it! If you do let me know what you think. it, I'm sure you would see a huge savings over your lifetime. Its a good thing
they invented this amazing thing called <b><span style="color: #cc0000;"><u>Google!</u></span></b> I type in what I'm looking for a<u><span style="color: #351c75;">

reduce your shower time by a min or 2. The link I posted above shows you how
much money you can save by cutting back 1 minute, 2 minutes, up to 5 minutes.
So get a timer ( don't tell me you don't have one, every phone has one!) and
time your showers for a few days and figure out about how long they are. Me.. I
would love to have 30 min showers again lol! If you average 15 minutes, try
cutting back to 13 minutes for a week. You can do this by setting an alarm to
go off in 12 minutes, then finish what you are doing and get out. By the time
you get out it will probably be 13 minutes.Then cut back to 10 minutes and you
have just saved yourself $9!!! (in a year of course, but you would know that if
you went to the link above :) </span><br />

<br />
Sister Bear lately hasn't wanted to get her hands too dirty, so I gave her a spoon to start out with... honestly the spoon didn't last long! <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Look at that smile!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lRtuK6kjKCg/UQRiTrSUkMI/AAAAAAAAzkI/MXWMWtdZ55Q/s1600/DSC08583.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="360" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lRtuK6kjKCg/UQRiTrSUkMI/AAAAAAAAzkI/MXWMWtdZ55Q/s640/DSC08583.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: Goop! Corn Starch and Water!" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I didn't measure anything! Sister Bear picked green, so we added green food coloring to our water. We put some corn starch in a bowl and just added a little colored water at a time. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YQDhqVfidkU/UQRiTddX4II/AAAAAAAAzkQ/uRi4bVUV66o/s1600/DSC08579.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YQDhqVfidkU/UQRiTddX4II/AAAAAAAAzkQ/uRi4bVUV66o/s400/DSC08579.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: Goop! <br />
<br />
The more water, the more runny your Goop is. The more corn starch, the thicker your Goop is. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We kept adding more corn starch and more water to make our fun last even longer!</div>

I love doing art projects with my kids with things I already have in the house. I really enjoyed doing this project with Sister Bear and plan on doing it again when Baby Bear is older. So here is what we did!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Enjoy!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #cc0000;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #cc0000;"><u>Supplies Needed:</u></span></div>
<ul style="text-align: center;">
<li>Glue</li>
<li>Fruit Loops</li>
<li>Zip lock baggies</li>
<li>Paper</li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i> <span style="color: #274e13;">(Note: I apologize for these pictures, they were taken with a not so great camera and before I started blogging. Next time I do this project I will get much better pictures!)</span></i><span style="color: #6aa84f;"> </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We started out by sorting all the fruit loops by colors. This was a great way to talk about colors and counting. Sister Bear surprised me by doing a perfect job! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--gDs6csSRWk/UPbdCL-dg2I/AAAAAAAAyAE/AjEJSTuc6ho/s1600/GEDV0197.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--gDs6csSRWk/UPbdCL-dg2I/AAAAAAAAyAE/AjEJSTuc6ho/s400/GEDV0197.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Next we put the sorted fruit loop into cheap zip lock baggies( Dollar Store!) and crushed them! This was fun!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #351c75;">Crush! Bam! Bang!</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
All done and ready to use!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vzWNIu0kTME/UPbdD42tK5I/AAAAAAAAyAY/j7xX4ReOClc/s1600/GEDV0204.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vzWNIu0kTME/UPbdD42tK5I/AAAAAAAAyAY/j7xX4ReOClc/s400/GEDV0204.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Once the fruit loops were dust, we put them back into their containers, keeping them separated by<span style="color: #f1c232;"> <span style="color: black;">color</span></span>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GXlSpWVFQNk/UPbdEwVb_vI/AAAAAAAAyAo/LVcSfD6brnM/s1600/GEDV0208.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GXlSpWVFQNk/UPbdEwVb_vI/AAAAAAAAyAo/LVcSfD6brnM/s400/GEDV0208.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I didn't get a picture of the next part, but all I did was drizzle glue all over a piece of paper. I used painting paper so it wouldn't curl.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Next I showed Sister Bear how to sprinkle our fruit loop dust onto the glue. Once she got the idea, away she went!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-43cy3TUp5_g/UPbdFLrqM2I/AAAAAAAAyAs/2hxYrgQdaoo/s1600/GEDV0209.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-43cy3TUp5_g/UPbdFLrqM2I/AAAAAAAAyAs/2hxYrgQdaoo/s400/GEDV0209.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We all had a blast helping her get the glue covered before it dried. Next time we will only put a little glue on the paper at a time.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TIM9jCYe79c/UPbdGD8fPMI/AAAAAAAAyA8/fJVCio46nN0/s1600/GEDV0210.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TIM9jCYe79c/UPbdGD8fPMI/AAAAAAAAyA8/fJVCio46nN0/s400/GEDV0210.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Done! The colors are <span style="color: #cc0000;">so vibrant</span> in real life and once it dries the dust doesn't really come off. I'm sure you could spray some spray sealant or adhesive on in. If you do, let me know how it turns out!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-c4Htxs8lQEw/UPbdGoYPwbI/AAAAAAAAyBE/QwBGKJWQR68/s1600/GEDV0211.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-c4Htxs8lQEw/UPbdGoYPwbI/AAAAAAAAyBE/QwBGKJWQR68/s640/GEDV0211.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We had a lot of the dust left over, so I put the lids on the containers and am saving them for another day. I look forward to doing this project again!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>(If this was your idea originally, please let me know. I honestly can't remember if I came up with this, or if I saw it somewhere and just forgot.)</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Please leave me some comment love! I would LOVE to hear from you and see picture if you did this project! </div>

We go to OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry)as often as possiable because we have a membership, and we always end up playing with the play dough they have there. <span style="color: #990000;">Its soft, moist, lasts forever and is really not salty.</span> I dont know about you, but when I'm done playing with store bought playdough, my hands are always really dry and need to be washed. <u>But not with this stuff</u>! I found the recipe on OMSI's website <a href="http://www.omsi.edu/for-kids/playdough" target="_blank">HERE</a>. All of these ingredients you should be able to find in your kitchen! OMSI's version calls for using the microwave. I really wanted to make it on the stove, so I found a recipe <a href="http://mommyfootprint.com/the-perfect-home-made-play-dough-recipe/" target="_blank">here</a> with the same ingredients! <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIA72AJmKew" target="_blank">Here is a step by step video on how to make this!</a><br />

<span style="color: #351c75;"><u><b>Play Dough Recipe:</b></u></span><br />
<ul>
<li>1 cup white flour</li>
<li>1/2 cup salt</li>
<li>2 tablespoon cream of tartar (find it in the spice section)</li>
<li>1 tablespoon oil</li>
<li>1 cup water</li>
<li>food coloring</li>
<li>Glitter (optional)</li>
<li>Scents (optional) </li>

<i><u><b>Directions:</b></u></i><br />
<ul>
<li>Mix first 4 ingredients in a pan. Add water and mix well. Cook over
medium heat, stirring constantly, for 3 – 5 minutes.</li>
<li> Dough will become
difficult to stir and form a “clump”. </li>
<li> Remove from stove and knead for 5
minutes–add food coloring during kneading process. </li>

for a long time stored in a covered plastic container or plastic
sandwich bag.</li>

<br />
We have all been sick lately, so we haven't been doing any crafts and Sister Bear has been missing them. So today we did a few things and focused on the color pink since Valentines day is coming.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XQYmpgvOgsA/UP9TyTmEVOI/AAAAAAAAy0s/ZArKev6HsIA/s1600/facbook1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="584" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XQYmpgvOgsA/UP9TyTmEVOI/AAAAAAAAy0s/ZArKev6HsIA/s640/facbook1.jpg" title="Map of My Heart: PINK!" width="640" /></a></div>We made Red Velvet cupcakes with pink cream cheese frosting! Yum! We ended up with over 2 dozen cupcakes, so Papa Bear will be taking a bunch to work tomorrow for the guys!<br />
<br />
I have had the Sensory table empty for a few days because we have been sick, and I just haven't wanted to worry about the mess. So today I put in some red/pink water and the kids had a blast! I think they ended up going through at least 3 changes of clothes each :-)<br />
<br />
We also made a heart garland to hang up! This was a super easy project. Sister Bear helped me with the pattern and colors. Right now I can't remember where I found the idea, but as soon as I find it I will edit this and give credit!<br />
<br />
Last, I made pink pancakes for dinner. The picture didn't turn out very well but they were a very pretty pink! Sister Bear loves it when I make colored pancakes. She also had pink milk with dinner!<br />
<br />
Overall, it was a good day! I'm glad we are slowly feeling better. Whats on the agenda for tomorrow you ask? I have NO idea! :-D<br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by! <br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"></span><span style="font-size: small;">
<span style="color: #351c75; font-size: large;"><span class="usercontent">CUT DRYER SHEETS IN HALF</span></span></span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /><span style="font-size: small;"></span><span style="font-size: small;">
<span class="usercontent">This is going to be a quick one because it<span style="font-size: small;">'s</span> pretty
straight forward. I have to credit my mother in law for teaching me this
simple trick. THANKS!</span></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span class="usercontent"> </span><br />
<span class="usercontent">When I get my box, I sit down with some scissors and a
basket<span style="font-size: small;"> ( from<span style="font-size: small;"> The Dollar Tree) </span></span>and cut them all in half. <span style="font-size: small;">It d</span>doesn't take long trust me, and you can cut quite<span style="font-size: small;"> </span>at a time. Then they go in the basket to go on the shelf above my washer. </span><br />
<br />
<span class="usercontent">Most people use dryer sheets and they are not that
expensive, but over a lifetime that cost will add up! A<span style="font-size: small;"> b</span>ox of 160 Bounce dryer
sheets<span style="font-size: small;"> go </span>for <span style="color: #990000;">$6.84</span><span style="font-size: small;">. </span>Now that box will only last you 160 loads, but if you cut
them in half it will last you 320 loads! They work just the same! </span></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span class="usercontent">Now for
really small loads, like just the kids blankies, I will even cut them in half
again. So then I'm only using 1/4 of a dryer sheet! Simply awesomeness! </span><br />
<br />
<span class="usercontent">Just think, if you live alone and always do small
loads, using 1/4 of a sheet would be enough! <span style="color: #351c75;">You could make one box of 160
sheet last you 640 loads!</span> That's over a year and a <span style="font-size: small;">half's</span> worth of dryer sheets
if you do one load a day! </span><br />
<br />
<span class="usercontent">So cut those suck<span style="font-size: small;">ers</span> in half and only buy them once a
year. Maybe even ask for some for <span style="font-size: small;">Christmas</span> and then they are free! </span></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span class="usercontent"><br /></span></span></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span class="usercontent">Go save some money!</span></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span class="usercontent"><br /></span></span></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span class="usercontent">I hope you are enjoying my money saving tips, and I will have another one for you next Mo<span style="font-size: small;">nday. If you have any comments<span style="font-size: small;">, questions or suggestions, there is this cute <span style="font-size: small;">little box just below <span style="font-size: small;">where you can leave me a note! This project was inspired by mommy needing some not whinny time. You know the mid afternoon whine? The kids have napped, been fed and are board and are expecting <i><b>you</b></i> to entertain them.....</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Well I wasn't feeling it. I know I'm not alone!</div>
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: left;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-49PutdzG4jE/UO5ExPI07dI/AAAAAAAAxS0/wv2hVUK2jDs/s1600/DSC03394.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img alt="" border="0" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-49PutdzG4jE/UO5ExPI07dI/AAAAAAAAxS0/wv2hVUK2jDs/s320/DSC03394.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: Shaving Cream Fun!" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I love that smile!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I grabbed the shaving cream (huge can for $1 at Albertsons) and sat her at the dinning table.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
AH! Hear that? No more whine! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Instantly she is excited! This was her first time playing with shaving cram and she loved it! It was up her arms, in her hair, nose, ears, mouth, belly button... EVERYWHERE! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: left;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2yAJOPssOJQ/UO5ExErqpOI/AAAAAAAAxS8/eIhj8diLX6Q/s1600/DSC03401.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img alt="" border="0" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2yAJOPssOJQ/UO5ExErqpOI/AAAAAAAAxS8/eIhj8diLX6Q/s320/DSC03401.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: Shaving Cream Fun!" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I added food coloring</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: center;">
That's ok tho, clean up is super easy. I added a bit of blue food coloring, and them some red but they didn't work out so well. Maybe next time.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Can you see the red and blue food coloring?</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And then..... she stated to get board, as most young kids do. I was NOT ready for whining again, so I broke one of my big rules of no feet on the dining room table! We have this awesome, huge window in our dining room and I let her paint ALLLL over it! </div>

Welcome everyone to my first Money Saving Monday tip!</h2>
I <span style="color: red;">LOVE</span> to spend money. It doesn't matter if it is on groceries, clothes, crafts.... <u>Anything</u>. But to have money to spend, I have to first save it. Which to be honest MOST of us suck at. No? Not you? Ah come - on... Be honest. OK well maybe it is just me that isn't good at saving money. <br />
<br />
Well I have been doing as much as I can around the house to help us save some money. Most of it is little things, but every little bit helps right?<br />
<br />
OK so here is it, Tip#1!<br />

I think we all start our using these drawer and then move onto bigger and better things (someday I hope!)<br />
<br />
These drawers can sure be an eye sore! I store all my crap that I don't want to look at ( or anyone else to see) in these drawers... but they are see through! Whats the point?!?<br />
<br />
I came across <b><a href="http://kindercraze.blogspot.com/2012/07/sterlite-drawers-revisited-follow-up-to.html?m=1" target="_blank">this idea</a></b> the other day via Pintrest and literately smacked my head and said, <b>" DUH! Why didn't I think of that?! GENIUS!"</b> That night I went through all my scrap book paper that was sitting in a drawer gathering dust and made a few coordinating piles for the various set of drawers I have. I figured I should start with a small set of drawers for my first try... easier to hide if I screwed it up too bad lol.<br />
<br />
Here is the " Before" picture. I apologize for the not so great pictures. My crafting time is after the kiddos go to bed and the lighting is NOT great. Also I'm not one to spend really any time editing my pictures. Id rather do ANYTHING else!<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nKOyoQaECfg/UO-AQcS_UQI/AAAAAAAAxYs/GUfNtQJQ12k/s1600/DSC08018.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nKOyoQaECfg/UO-AQcS_UQI/AAAAAAAAxYs/GUfNtQJQ12k/s400/DSC08018.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: Storage Drawer Facelift" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">"Before" with our cat helping</td></tr></tbody></table><i>(Notices all the different labeling and old stickers? YUCK! It looks so disorganized to be able to see everything) </i><br />
<br />
I emptied out my drawers, slid my paper down the front and marked where to cut it. Super easy for these drawers because the handle is on the outside.<br />
<br />
Next I cut out 3 pieces all the same size. Easy Peazy!<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GSCgk1AkWpk/UO-ARsgGPaI/AAAAAAAAxY4/vN1IJUOXcdM/s1600/DSC08028.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GSCgk1AkWpk/UO-ARsgGPaI/AAAAAAAAxY4/vN1IJUOXcdM/s400/DSC08028.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: Storage Drawer Facelift" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">All cut and ready to go</td></tr></tbody></table>The I put some trusty Mod Podge on the inside of the front of the drawer. I slid my paper in, making sure it was flush with the bottom, and pressed down. I found that using an old gift card worked really well to get all the air bubbles out. <br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ybRYRVXP2HA/UO-ARkRAtxI/AAAAAAAAxY0/euZG1VwsBaQ/s1600/DSC08031-001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img alt="" border="0" height="225" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ybRYRVXP2HA/UO-ARkRAtxI/AAAAAAAAxY0/euZG1VwsBaQ/s400/DSC08031-001.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: Storage Drawer Facelift" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">It's milky because the Mod Podge is still drying</td></tr></tbody></table>Next I put a layer of Mod Podge on the inside to protect the paper. I made sure to get it all along the edges!<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: right;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0eHdyYsweaU/UO-ASKEKrBI/AAAAAAAAxY8/TAXeNxDuh6c/s1600/DSC08034.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img alt="" border="0" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0eHdyYsweaU/UO-ASKEKrBI/AAAAAAAAxY8/TAXeNxDuh6c/s400/DSC08034.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: Storage Drawer Facelift" width="225" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The inside</td></tr></tbody></table><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>Here is the drawers all done and dry! I even used my fancy new label maker (that I'm still learning to use) and made a label for what is in each drawer! Being organized makes my heart happy!<br />

<br />
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2FJbliJ0KFY/UO4wYI6rx0I/AAAAAAAAxIM/u97TbUFUbf0/s1600/DSC07967.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2FJbliJ0KFY/UO4wYI6rx0I/AAAAAAAAxIM/u97TbUFUbf0/s320/DSC07967.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: Securing your furniture" width="252" /></a>Not many of us think about securing our furniture to the wall, especially a low dresser, but I will be. I came across this very sad story today and it hit really close to home. Our daughter will be 3 soon and our son is starting to pull up in everything. <a href="http://lovelightlaughterandchocolate.blogspot.com/2012/12/be-with-me-just-for-today.html" target="_blank">Please read this moms story. </a><br />
Have tissues ready.<br />
<br />
I cried the entire time I was reading this. Sister Bear also gets up before I do, turns on the TV and eats her cereal. This could have been or could be us. I don't want that to happen. I don't want it to happen to anyone, that is why I am sharing her story with you. <br />
<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right; text-align: right;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6_a-aGnz7OY/UO4ylPWZgeI/AAAAAAAAxJY/ztZnYXPS83c/s1600/DSC07970-001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img alt="" border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6_a-aGnz7OY/UO4ylPWZgeI/AAAAAAAAxJY/ztZnYXPS83c/s320/DSC07970-001.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: Securing your furniture" width="198" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Here is Sister Bears dresser. Its tall and top heavy. </td></tr>

I have the plugs in the wall outlets, child safety knobs on door knobs, and knives, chemicals and medicine out of reach. I do my best to keep my children safe. But as this mom said, $5 and 15 minutes could have saved her daughter. My husband and I found a local place that carries furniture wall straps. We went purchased them and a strap to secure our TV. <br />
<br />

<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-T6c05E_Em6U/UO4xb0A34JI/AAAAAAAAxIc/iMMUzTrzFLY/s1600/DSC07991.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img alt="" border="0" height="180" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-T6c05E_Em6U/UO4xb0A34JI/AAAAAAAAxIc/iMMUzTrzFLY/s320/DSC07991.JPG" title="Map of My Heart: Securing your furuniture" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">We are screwing the bracket into the wall</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<br />
Once we figured out that we were doing it didn't take us
much time. The straps we got had 8 in a package, enough to do 4 pieces
of furniture for $6. I encourage you to <u><i>please</i></u> go purchase some and do this as soon as possible. $6.. that's it. Do it for you, your children, for this mother, for peace of mind.<br />

I feel so much better knowing that my furniture is secure. of course these straps are not there to replace adult supervision. But we can not watch our children 24/7, so these are there to help. <br />
<br />
